Taking over a 550-year old Hamam into its abode, Hodja Pasha Culture Center is the stage to the Wherling Dervishes ceremony and the sacred rituals of Mevlevi Sect. The 800 year old tradition of sufi music is performed as part of sacred rituals as a prayer trance to Allah. Influenced by the Ottoman high culture, these prayers were integrated with music and prayers as a sign of faith by Rumi and are known to uplift the spirits. The Dervishes stand for doorway, and so the mystical sacred rituals are meant as prayers for the ones leaving the world and about letting these find spiritual peacefulness in the heavenly world.
