Nestled in the boisterous Himalayas, Gangtok is the capital city of the North-eastern paradise Sikkim. Shrouded in mist and covered with layers sheath of clouds, the stunning green valleys, jungles, and ridges of Gangtok are an invitation for the travelers to soak in the tranquility. Celebrating the Tibetan style of living via its various Buddhist and Tibetan monasteries, Gangtok is a delirious mix of the cultural and social-commercial crowd coming together through organic living.
Above the contrastingly manicured gardens of Gangtok, one can indulge in traditional Tibetan food or Sikkimise cuisine like Momo, Thukpa, Thentuk, Sidu, Gundruk, Sinki, etc. Because of the Nepali crowd here the inclination is more towards rice-based food. Gangtok’s popular destinations include Tsongmo Lake, Nathu-La pass, Enchey Monastery, Ganesh Tok, MG Road, Tashi viewpoint and more.
The Phensong Monastery is a spiritually enriching site near Gangtok and a must-see monastery. I enjoyed my time here, and the stupas were lovely.
You will visit Namchi when you visit Sikkim. It has a vibrant culture of folk dances, Handmade crafts and arts. The design and small temples were beautiful. Must see place.
what a beautiful place. The lake as a shape of India and it is surrounded by snow cladded mountains. At the edge, there's a whole different world, but be cautious and travel inside limits indicated by "risk" signs. We went up to Baba Mandir and we enjoyed a lot
The scenic beauty of the Sikkim mountains.Tashi view point is one of the local sightseeing spot of Gangtok. The best thing to see is the sunrise, one of the most memorable. There were monks around who talked with us and told us that a spectacular view of the sunrise can also be seen on a clear day from Tashi View Point.
It was an amazing tour to Gangtok. We had an incredible vacation over there. We considered the town of Gangtok to be a clean and rather orderly place compared to other places in India. We looked at many attractions in Gangtok and it was just awesome.
