Description of the Experience

The Night Ceremony is a sacred journey that the devout followers of the Golden Temple, visitors and the members of the Sikh community partake every night with much vigor and excitement. To the accompaniment of songs, rhythms, and drums, every night a palanquin (palki) is prepared with silk brocades and flowers to carry the sacred Holy Scripture – The Guru Grand Sahib, from the main shrine to the inner sanctum. This celebration is held again in the morning when after a few hours of rest, the scripture is taken back to the main shrine. As an epitome of the history of Sikhism, the Guru Granth Sahib is the Holy Scripture that is sacred and unique to the world. The religious fervor and sacredness revolving around the Golden Temple, also known as Shri Harmandir Sahib, is because of this unique holy scripture which is the only original scripture uttered by 6 Gurus and 30 Sufis of different religions and castes. In a night ceremony tour, attend the journey of the Holy Scripture, as it makes its way to the inner sanctum and connects with the fountainhead that reveres universal messages of love, truth, harmony, and service to the world!
